Blue cheese wax is a coating for cheese that prevents unwanted mould growth and helps to retain moisture in the cheese during maturation. It presents an attractive finish to the cheese and enhances shopper perception. Red cheese wax is generally associated with Edam cheese and the brand Babybel.
Typical Usage Level
Typical usage will depend on how thickly or thinly customers wish to apply the wax.
As a general guide, one 25 kg box of wax, is enough to coat 650-750 x 200 g cheeses.

Cheese wax is not meant for consumption; it is designed as packaging material for the cheese.
It is a food contact grade product and it does not contain any of the 14 legally declarable allergens: Cereals containing gluten, Crustaceans, Eggs, Fish, Peanuts, Soybeans, Milk, Nuts, Celery, Mustard, Sesame, Sulphur dioxide/sulphites, Lupin, Molluscs.
